How do I register?
1. Go to http://www.sewaneeonline.com/alumni.html 2. Click the link to the Alumni Gateway. 3. Then click the link that says, “Click here to register now”. 4. Following the steps provided, enter your last name (first name and class year are optional entries) and then click on your record. 5. Next, in order to validate your record, you will need to enter your ID Number (Sewanee provided). 6. Then, you will create your own User Id and Password, which you will use each time you wish to access the Alumni Gateway programs. (You will no longer need your Sewanee ID Number, nor will you need to register each time you visit the Alumni Gateway.)

What is my ID Number/ Security Information?
Each Sewanee alumnus has a 9 digit ID Number, which is assigned to you by the Campus Information System. During the registration process, this number will be used to verify your eligibility as an Alumni Gateway member. The Alumni Office (alumni@sewanee.edu) can provide you with your number or you can find it on the address label of recent mailings such as the Sewanee Magazine. In order to register, you must submit this number in the exact provided format. The first letter will be an uppercase “C” or “B” and the following digits are zeros.

What are my UserID and Password?
As part of the registration process, you will establish a UserID and Password. This will be the step following the validation of your membership (see above). You must use your UserID and Password each time you wish to access the Online Directory or Career Center. If you forget your Password and/or UserID, you must submit the automated form located on the homepage of the Alumni Gateway in order to retrieve the information.

I can’t find my name on the list of eligible members.
If you are having trouble finding your name among the list of eligible members, you should first try to broaden your search by only providing your last name. The system may have your name listed in a different format than you are providing. If so, you can fix this once you are registered by updating your online directory information. Once you have refined your search, if you are still not listed, click the link that sends you to the automated form. Someone will be in touch to help you.

How do I update my online directory information or hide information within it?
Go to the Online Directory and choose the “View/Update Your Online Directory Listing” option. This will bring you to your directory profile. In order to update any of the information, click on the “Click to Update” button in the appropriate section. This will bring you into “update mode”. Make the changes and then click on “Update”. Your changes will immediately take effect on your online directory profile,and Sewanee will receive an email notifying the database managers of the update. The update will be immediate for the online directory, and it will only take a couple days to be updated in the University’s Campus Information System.
To hide information, go to the Online Directory and choose the “View/Update Your Online Directory Listing” option. This will bring you to your directory profile. From there, click “making changes to your directory view preferences” link and follow the provided instructions. You can hide your entire profile or pieces of it.

How secure is my directory information and to whom is it released?
The Online Directory is a secure, members-only feature, and can only be accessed by other eligible members (students, alumni, University administrators) who have registered to use the feature. It is not made public, and the information resides on a secure server.
Also, you have control of which information appears on your directory profile. Use the “hide” tool in the Online Directory if you do not want certain information displayed or if you choose to hide your entire record.
The Online Directory will not allow members to print lists of alumni contact information. This will make it very difficult for a member to abuse the directory. The online directory is intended for personal correspondences between members of the community of the University of the South.

I am having trouble using the registration form/ directory search form/ any form.
Those using older browser versions may experience trouble with forms or drop down menus. The community is best viewed with IE 4.0 or higher or Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher. Since the community uses frames, a frames-enabled browser is also required. .
